What are each of the files produced?
EC3 - A Dolby Digital Plus JOC file that contains all audio objects, information, and metadata of the Dolby Atmos mix. This is the highest quality output from the Dolby Atmos VR Production Suite, and is decoded by the applications that implement the Dolby Atmos for VR Applications playback solution.
MP4 - A MP4 wrapper containing the above EC3 file to facilitate easy muxing with associated video files.
WAV - A B-Format ambisonic output of the Atmos mix for playback by applications that do not implement the Dolby Atmos for VR Applications playback solution.
What is B-Format?
B-Format Ambisonic recordings consist of 4 component channels W, X, Y and Z. W is an omnidirectional signal, X corresponds to front minus back, Y corresponds to left minus right and Z corresponds to up minus down. The output from this signal is commonly decoded to allow for a 360 surround field to be stored in 4 channels of audio.
